Well the North Peace Fall Fair has once again come and gone.  Thank you to all of our members and volunteers who donated pies, their time, or both over this past weekend.

This fundraiser marked our 3rd annual Fall Fair Pie Fundraiser and each year has been more successful than the next. With over 70 of the "World's Best Pie"(s) sold and countless pots of the "Best Coffee Ever" we can proudly attest that our volunteers are the best and we couldn't do it with out them!

Proceeds from the Fall Fair Pie Fundraiser support the ArtsPost facility, home of the Fort St. John Community Arts Council, the North Peace Spinners' & Weavers' Guild and the North Peace Potters' Guild.

I've got a note card giveaway running this week on my scrapbooking blog! Check it out here and enter by leaving a comment on the giveaway post!

I had hoped my studio would be finished enough to use by fall, but with August heading toward September, it's not going to happen as quickly as I had thought.  I'm not letting that stop me from keeping busy and creative in my current, cluttered home studio/craft room.  I'll be teaching my usual monthly Scrapaholix classes, the second Tuesday of the month in Dawson Creek, and the third Thursday of the month in Chetwynd.

I've also started offering classes for kids in card making, scrapbooking and stamping.  My first class takes place on September 1st, 3-5pm and is for kids aged 6-11.  We'll be making shaped cards and maybe even a pop-up card or two!  Cost for the class is $10 and I've got openings for 8 students.  Contact me for more info by phoning 250-786-5562 or emailing me at kids (at) angelafehr (dot) com.

As interest allows, I am anticipating teaching a watercolour workshop this winter, as well as classes in painting the vintage-look wooden signs I love so much.  Contact me to sign up for any of the classes listed above!

Save the date for the North East Arts Summit, September 17-18, 2010 in Fort St. John!

2010 Legacies Now is working in conjunction with BC’s arts organizations to present a series of Regional Arts Summits around the province.  To date, there have been four regional summits in the North West (Smithers), South West (Vancouver), Vancouver Island (Nanaimo) and in Kootenay/Boundary Region (Nelson).

The objective of the Arts Summits is to enhance the skills, knowledge and expertise of those working and volunteering in the sector, as well as to strengthen networks within a region to encourage increased communication, collaboration and cooperation.

The North East Arts Summit will offer a platform for dialogue, professional development and networking opportunities to a diverse group of artists, arts administrators, arts and heritage organization representatives, volunteer board members, concert and festival presenters, facility managers, arts entrepreneurs, students and others working in the creative sector.

Watercolour Painting

I'm pleased to report that all four lines of my watercolour art cards are now available for sale at the Visitor Info Centre in Fort St. John! I'm hoping this is the beginning of a successful partnership - my cards have always been popular items for tourists at the Dawson Creek Art Gallery, and this year I've ventured into the Dawson Creek Farmer's Market as well.

Eleven members of FLYING COLOURS Artists’ Association and some of their spouses enjoyed the first annual Artist’s Retreat at Sikanni River Lodge in early July.  The beauty of the lodge and surrounding area, camaraderie of the group and graciousness of the hosts made this experience inspirational and unforgettable.   We are looking forward to sharing many more events such as this in the future.

Back by popular demand, Elizabeth Harris-Nichols will be presenting a painting workshop, Abstracting The Landscape, on July 15 and 16.  Participants will be using large surfaces and mediums of personal choice and should have some painting experience in the medium they choose.

After a successful watercolour portrait workshop in 2009, Mareth Warren is returning on September 2nd – 5th for a two- or three-day figurative workshop followed by a one- or two-day urban or landscape sketching/painting experience.  Participants will be using mediums of their choice.  Final details are pending.

Popular Dawson Creek artists, Mary Mottishaw and Mary Parslow will be delivering a three-day workshop, Intro To Printmaking, on October 18th - 20th in Fort St.  John.

In 2011 we’re looking forward to Printmaking and Pastel workshops in February and September.  2012 will see the return of Mike Svob for another Acrylic / Oil Painting Workshop in February.
