"Wet on Wet" oil painting was developed by BILL ALEXANDER who had his own TV shows years ago called "The Happy Painter". He taught it to many people including BOB ROSS, who some remember from his TV shows, "The Joy of Painting". This style of painting is very popular world wide as most paintings are completed from start to finish in ONE day! "Traditional" oil painting takes much longer, uses different methods, paints and brushes. One layer has to dry before another layer can be applied. Many of the "Traditional" Oil painting classes offered are once a week, for 5-6 weeks. There are many "Happy Painters" in this group, and we hope to be posting paintings done by many.

The Peace Arts Gallery Society (PAGS) supports arts programming and a variety of other artistic endeavors in our community. PAGS offers children the opportunity to participate in the Fine Arts, such as the “Free Kids’ Art Camp” every summer and gives student bursaries. The Society helps lend support to local artists by co-sponsoring five to six adult art workshops on a yearly basis. PAGS is second only to the City in support of the North Peace Cultural Centre and is an active member of the Fort St. John Arts Council. On an on-going basis, the society promotes many quality exhibitions at Peace Gallery North as well as the hiring of extra staff at the gallery during the busy holiday season. All of the initiatives that PAGS pursues are supported by volunteer fundraising efforts through the Annual Chocolate Festivals and Art Auctions. Contact: Heather Hannaford. scarab@xplornet.com The Guild was established In 1969 to provide space for work in clay, to raise awareness of ceramics , and to provide educational opportunities in the community. In its present incarnation the guild operates a members' studio at the Artspost location. Classes are offered regularly for adults. Instruction in hand-building,(with some sculpture), wheel throwing and glaze discovery. Classes for children are offered during most sessions. The guild welcomes interested adult individuals to the regular (non studio use) membership. Studio membership is available when established criteria are met. Other activities include workshops, usually at least one sale a year, the “Summer Solstice Chili Bowl Bash”. We are working on having a mug wall (hand made mugs for sale) open on Saturday mornings. As well the membership participates in fund raising activities.

The North Peace Cultural Centre opened it's doors in June of 1992 and has been a centre of the Arts & Cultural Community since. With it's unique lobby and concourse, that literally stretches for a city block, it has acquired "A Mall for the Arts" reputation. The FSJ Country Quilters' Guild has about 50 members and meets the second and fourth Monday of the month at the North Peace Cultural Centre. Annual groups include block exchange, row robin, round robin, mystery quilt, technique classes, and secret sister. 10015-100th Ave. 250-787-9564.

A Non-Profit Organization dedicated to promote communication education and stimulation in the fiber arts; specifically spinning, weaving and dyeing and associated handcrafts in the North Peace.
